What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is calcium hydroxyapatite suspended in a methylcellulose gel. The calcium hydroxyapatite is found naturally in the body, but in the skin it stimulates collagen production where it is injected. While most of the Radiesse is gone 4 months after injection, the collagen your body produces lasts for 18 months, providing a longer duration of filling. Radiesse is not for everyone, and not for all locations. The injection is made with a wider needle, so it is more painful. Also, it can lead to bead formation when used in and around the lips, so it is not recommended in these areas.
How Does Radiesse Work?
Healthy young skin contains collagen that gives it volume, flexibility and strength. As part of the aging process, your own natural collagen breaks down. This loss of elasticity and volume results in wrinkles, facial lines and skin laxity that take away the youthful appearance from your face.
